Plantatiile sunt amplasate pe dealurile din jumatatea nordica a judetului Dolj in localitatea Almaj. pozitia este una favorabila prin expozitie dar si prin faptul ca se afla intr-un triunghi magic intre râurile Jiu, Amaradia si Almajel. Acestea reusesc sa creeze un microclimat favorabil prin curentii de aer pe care ii formeaza. Astfel intreaga zona este termoreglata iar plantele de vita-de-vie si strugurii parcurg perioade optime de dezvoltare, respectiv coacere. Solurile din acest teritoriu sunt reprezentate de argile si pietrisuri in straturile superioare si de structuri calcaroase semicompacte in profunzime, aceste structuri incepand de la o adancime de cca. 40-50 cm.

Moșia Galicea Mare binds its identity to moments and outstanding personalities from the history of the Romanian society. In 1896, Moșia Galicea Mare became the property of Prince George Bibescu, and in 1902 he donated a part of it to his son, George Valentin Bibescu. In 1912, George Valentin Bibescu set up a plantation of 15 hectares of grapevine using varieties brought from the Stirbey breeding grounds. In 1916, the wine cellar of Moșia Galicea Mare is inaugurated with the first wines produced from its own vineyard. All of these landmarks are reflected today in both the winery's architecture and the grapevine plantations.

About the Segarcea Winery Born and fed by the passion for winemaking and viticulture of Mr. Daniel Spiridon, the Vie Vin Segarcea business is a typical family business. This passion began with the inheritance of one hectare of vines in Segarcea in 1994. The desire to be Oltean, woven with a passion for history, led to further acquisitions in two of the oldest wine regions of Bania, Segarcea and Crovna, reviving what was once the Bania Domains. The concept of modern interpretation of history begins to be visible in 1999 when the restoration of a 25-year-old plantation begins at Crovna and rejuvenating prunings and gap fill-ups are perfomed at Segarcea, thus restoring the old vineyards that had reached an average age of over 50 years. The objective was to ensure the conditions required for obtaining quality grapes, knowing that the grape quality level and, by extension, the complexity of the wines obtained from them grow with the age of their vineyard. Mr. Spiridon chose to invest from his own sources, the purchased being made annually according to the incomes obtained and after carefull analysing which lands would be joined to the Bania Domains. Segarcea vineyard - brief history The importance of the Segarcea estate is also shown by the fact that over time it was owned by some of the most important rulers of Wallachia, who inherited it, or bought it from their predecessors' descendants. Thus, after 1415 when it was in the possession of close friend of the ruler Mircea the Elder, it was bought by the prince Radu Paisie, who passed it down to Voivode Patrascu the Right, who in turn passed it down to his daughter Mary. Subsequently, the estate was also the property of Voivode Mihai the Brave, hence it was given the title of Prince's Land. From this acquisition it can be observed the Ruler's attachment to this Estate that belonged to his father (Mihai the Brave being the step-brother of Mary, and the son of Patrascu the Right) and that had been estranged by his descendants. With the purchase of the Prince's Land, Prince Mihai the Brave fortified the Segarcea Monastery to provide a stopover for travelers on the Salt Road, as well as to shelter the population during the Ottoman invasions. Until 1614 when the ruler Radu Mihnea gave the village Segarcea to the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Estate was also owned by the ruler Radu Serban. In 1864, with the secularization of monasteries’ wealth, the village of Segarcea became the property of 411 families, a part of the former Estate remaining in the state’s property. Phylloxera destroyed the entire vineyards of Segarcea in 3 years starting with 1894. In 1904 the vineyard replanting began, so that in 1914 it would reach an area of about 321 ha. In 1940, before the outbreak of the war, it had reached an area of over 500 hectares planted with vines. For the cost-efficient improvement of the vineyard, a cooperative society is established in 1937 under the name Segarcea Vineyard, where the 29 vineyard members join forces to work the vineyard, prepare and sell the wine. The tradition of vineyard cultivation for obtaining high quality wines on these lands, dating back to before the Ottoman invasions, is continued by our company, which owns a vineyard of 85 hectares, where we obtain grapes from varieties such as White Feteasca, Royal Feteasca, Sauvignon Blanc, Romanian Tamaioasa, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Crovna vineyard - brief history The village of Crovna is mentioned for the first time in official documents as a reward for the bravery and dedication that Spatarul Dragul showed in the Battle of Rucar in 1522 under the command of Ruler Radu of Afumati. Located over the years in the possession of some important names of Oltenia's history, such as the Obedeanu family, the Oteteliseanu family and the family of general Argetoianu, the village of Crovna has a long tradition of vineyards, the first notes of the vineyards dating from the early 1800s. Immediately after the Second World War, when Constantin Argetoianu returned to the country, and until he was arrested by the Communists, the situation of the vineyard was described as catastrophic, being attacked by diseases and weeds. Nowadays, the Crovna vineyard continues to reward with high-quality grape harvests the people who care for the 35 hectares of vineyard where we find 30-year-old vines of the White Feteasca, Royal Feteasca and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. About the wine cellar It is equipped with modern equipment that makes it possible to obtain high quality wines: pneumatic presses, fermentation and storage tanks with controlled temperature and protected by inert gas, tanks for descaling, decanter, and the safest filtration facilities . Coordinated by an oenologist with more than 30 years of experience, there are obtained from the best grapes offered by the vineyard with an average age of 35 years, both light white wines with complex flavors, as well as full-bodied red wines with a high level of extraction, suitable for maturing and aging. About the V.inc Winery A ”boutique” winery conceived and designed out of the passion for wine. In 2009, the company V.INC S.R.L. was set up, and a year later the vineyard was planted, 10 km from Segarcea, in the village of Drănic, later called "Via lui Mardale" (”Mardale’s vineyard”). Its location, on the Vineyards’ Hill, a south-facing hill near the Jiu River, where there is always a good ventilation of the plantation and many sunny days required to mature the grapes in the best conditions, resulted in a quality wine with personality and perfect bouquet. For the 18.4 hectares two native varieties were chosen: Romaneasca Tamaioasa and Feteasca Neagra, along with three others, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In 2013 the first wine production was obtained and, together with it, came the first two medals at an international competition. The wines rewarded with silver medals that were able to accumulate the required score were those obtained from the Black Feteasca and Rosé from Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. Project for the future: to continue the already well-known tradition of producing high-quality wines by planting two new varieties, Chardonnay and Syrah (Shiraz), which will perfectly complement the range of wines we pride on. The Banu Mărăcine vineyard is one of the oldest and most famous vineyards in Oltenia. Since 1962, the Banu Mărăcine Didactic Center operates here. It is an institution belonging to the horticultural higher education, a colossus of 1250 hectares. In 1966, the teaching staff from the Faculty of Horticulture at the University of Craiova named this viticultural masterpiece Banu Mărăcine. It was considered that the first Romanian who travelled to distant lands and seas (in the year 1328) was the son of the ban Andrei Mărăcine, an Oltenian trueborn, who carried the reputation of the Jiu and Olt, of the Danube and the Carpathians all the way to the shores of the Seine. He would have arrived at the court of King Philip de Valois, in whose service he would have been, supporting him in the war he was fighting with the English. For the bravery of his deeds he was awarded the noble title of Marquis de Ronsard, hence the name Banu Mărăcine. The Banu Mărăcine Didactic Center is situated in the viticultural center of the same name, renowned for its famous red, white and flavored wines, but also for the wonderful Roua Plaiului brandy, presented in 1996 at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, where it was awarded the silver medal for its finesse and refinement, but also for the authenticity of the technology used to obtain it. In 1975, the Craiova Experimental Didactic Center was established with the purpose of the practical training of students, carrying out the research activity by the teaching staff and the implementation of the research results in the production activity. Between 1984-1990, the cellar, one of the largest in the country, was built. The cellar is the place where the wines are matured. Wine assortments are kept in oak barrels. The second basement of the construction follows: the winery. The hall has something magical in it. Here, the bottles are arranged on the shelves in a horizontal position. Every year, after harvesting, a number of bottles are brought up for aging. Shelves are numbered by category. The oldest varieties date back to the 1970s. In the winery there are 20,000 bottles of wine, but also liquor distilled of peaches and plums. Banu Mărăcine vineyard will enter the touristic circuit Within the Banu Mărăcine Didactic Center are located Mircea Villa and Remiza Villa, known in the past as the Negrescu Villas, a former Mayor of Craiova, who built a beautiful castle in the middle of the vineyards in honor of his son, Mircea. The building is reminiscent of the famous Brâncovenesc style. Next to the castle, he built a wine cellar, and above it an imposing pavilion, from which you can admire the entire Banu Mărăcine vineyard amphitheater. Mircea Villa and Remiza Villa have been completely renovated and have 4 single rooms and 3 double rooms, each with its own bathroom, conference room, terrace, wine cellar and kitchen. The 7ARTS project was born at Breasta cellar belonging to the boyar and politician Constantin Argetoianu. The plantation was renewed in 2009, the old cellar was totally refurbished and newly equipped with state-of-the-art technology. An inheritance that would probably be lost in everyday’s indifference, a place that certainly would not have retained its identity if we had not made that decision - in 2009 we brought back to life an old vineyard belonging to Constantin Argetoianu, local landlord and politician. We rebuilt the old cellar founded at the beginning of the 19th century and so we re-established on the Romanian map the “Banu Maracine” trademark. In order to obtain high quality we use only the grapes from our own plantation, we have very low yields, we harvest only in small boxes, we are sorting the grapes both during harvesting and prior to harvesting, we use the latest technology in wine making and last but not least for the red wines we use exclusively Romanian oak barrels. 7 years after replanting we launched the wines under the 7ARTS brands. For the wine labels we have chosen the artist Angela Szabo's paintings because we can say that it reflects the content in the bottles: fantasy, complexity, color, expressiveness. We strongly believe in the unique character, the quality and the joy that our wines are offering you! Location with long established tradition in Oltenia Hills, DOC Banu Maracine The vineyard is located in the wine region Oltenia Hills, located 44.3550 N, 23.6810E, on a land with slopes of 10 to 30% and the maximum altitude of 600m. The vineyard rows are disposed from North to South, enjoying full sun throughout the day. The base soil consists of clays, marls and levantine sands, making it ideal for grapes and wines of premium quality. The surface of 30 hectares are cultivated as follows: at the hill base there are the white varieties of White Feteasca (Feteasca Alba), Sauvignon Blanc, Romanian Tamaioasa (Tamaioasa Romaneasca) and as the slope grows, we find the red varieties of Syrah, Feteasca Neagra, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The varieties grown on the high hill close to the Breasta wine cellar are: Fetească Albă, Sauvignon Blanc, Tămăioasă Românească, Merlot, Fetească Neagră, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. In order to fully control the quality, our oenologists use exclusively grapes from our own vineyard and production, picked up manually. Although created in a modern style, 7ARTS wines preserve, and even conserve, the specifics of the region and the harvesting year.
