#BeautifulMemories. How we had fun in 2023, in Dolj
2023 was an extraordinary year in Dolj county from the point of view of the events that took place, which brought and continue to bring many tourists to the special places of our county. A retrospective of what was has its purpose now, when we look back happily that everything happened at home and that, here, we have the opportunity to create, year after year, things and projects of the soul.
IntenCity Festival
Summer in Craiova was synonymous with fun, and the peak was reached with the second edition of the IntenCity Festival, which put Craiova on the map of major festivals in Romania. This year, we could enjoy artists such as Enrique Iglesias, DJ Tiesto, Godz of Rock, Mahmut Orhan or Sigma and many others. We are counting the days until next year's edition and we invite you, as usual, to Craiova, for an experience you won't soon forget!
120 years of "Nicolae Romanescu" Park
The emblematic park of Craiova, which bears the name of the former great mayor of the municipality, celebrated, this year, 120 years since its inauguration, and the event was marked by a series of activities designed to take us back in time. The spectacular park, designed by the architect Edouard Redont, was awarded a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition (1900).
Puppets Occupy Street – Fantasy Edition
A special edition of the animation art festival, Puppets Occupy Street, came together this year under the name "Fantasy Edition", letting us live, imagine and feel the magic of stories and childhood. Regardless of age, Craiova residents and tourists enjoyed plays, workshops, concerts and the traditional giant puppet parades.
Brâncuși. Of the world
Starting this year, the oltenian sculptor is increasingly known and promoted, in his own country, thanks to the first edition of the event "Brâncusi. Of the world", organized by Dolj County Council on the occasion of the 147th anniversary of the birth of Constantin Brâncuși. Exhibitions, conferences, concerts, all were dedicated to his immense personality, but also to all those who wanted to participate in the suite of events, access being free.
"Film in The Village", in Cernăteşti
An event that enlivened a part of the rural area of the county is "Film in The Village", brought this year, in Cernătești commune, by the actor Cuzin Toma. An entire community got together through this event, which meant two days and evenings of Romanian films, workshops, music and socializing that took place like in a story near Cernăteștilor Kula.
The "Musical Craiova" International Festival, at its 50th edition
The "Oltenia" Philharmonic once again impressed music lovers this year, both with the current season and with the 50th edition of the "Musical Craiova" International Festival, a delight for classical music listeners and not only. During the festival, 119 years since the first concert of the Craiova Philharmonic Society, founded in 1904 and reorganized by royal decree in 1947, were also celebrated.
The Craiova Christmas Market
Of course, we cannot talk about the year's events without mentioning the Craiova Christmas Fair, which is still ongoing until January 2, 2024. So you have plenty of time to discover it and enjoy what it has to offer, from delicious dishes to winter drinks, artisanal products and thrills for adrenaline lovers, in the most modern Christmas market wheel in Romania!
