#DiscoverUs. What does 2026 have in store for us?
A new year has arrived, and we are looking forward to the new editions of the events taking place in Craiova and Dolj. So, what awaits us in 2026?
This year, established by law as the Brâncuși Year, marking 150 years since the birth of the brilliant sculptor from Oltenia, the cultural institutions under the Dolj County Council will have specific activities. Monthly, we will be able to enjoy cultural events aimed at providing the curious with a better understanding of what Constantin Brâncuși was, is and will be for the entire world.
This year is the year in which we will once again have the International Shakespeare Festival in Craiova, an event that brings together new theater companies, directors and actors from around the world, celebrating the playwright whose impressive legacy still fascinates the Planet today. The festival, which takes place every two years, will take place in 2026between May 21 and 31, after a 2025 in which the Shakespeare Caravan, also organized by the “Marin Sorescu” National Theater, made sure that all of Romania knew about our festival.
The Easter Fair is another event that we are eagerly awaiting, and we can't wait to see what theme is in store for us this year. Already known for the way it transforms the "Nicolae Romanescu" Park, the Easter Fair, along with the Christmas Fair, held in the center of Craiova, has become a brand of the city, allowing more people to visit us and get to know us.
The seventh edition of „Pedală în Bănie” unleashes, this year, on the hills of Podari commune, the Jurassic edition, with thematic routes, pure energy and a story that will feel like a movie lived. As the organizers say, this is the year in which you are the child playing, and destiny runs after you. This edition will take place between June 12 and 14, 2026, and those interested can already register for the competition, here:
The "Brabova" Traditional Music Festival will return this year, with its second edition, on the third weekend of June. The celebration of traditional Romanian music is welcome in Dolj, a county with a tradition of culture, history and arts, especially in the context in which the festival takes place at the Izvoranu-Geblescu Tower, recently renovated and introduced into the museum circuit.
Because it changed the face of an entire commune and an entire area, with support and openness from the Dolj County Council, we are also looking forward to the "Film în Sat " arts festival, organized by the "Cuzin Toma" Cultural Association. Thanks to these joint efforts, the commune of Cernătești has become, for three years now, a meeting point for arts and people, who become closer despite their differences. The magic of concerts, films, and joy in general, all under the auspices of the CernăteștilorTower, make “Film în Sat” a festival of a more united and larger community from year to year.
The 13th edition of Puppets Occupy Street will certainly be a lucky one! The festival that came to life in Craiova in 2014 has come to the attention of the whole world, for what it manages to provoke and create, for both children and adults. Puppets Occupy Street is yet another reminder to not forget to be children, to enjoy ourselves, and to look more often at the stories that do us good. And in 2026 it will again prove this to us, we are sure!
And, even though there is still almost a year until then, we are also looking forward to the next Craiova Christmas Fair, which is still open to the public until January 11, 2026.
Through all these events, Craiova and Dolj remain in the spotlight, through quality events, some unique for their niche, which manage to connect the community and give it another reason to be better and more united! Discover 2026 with us!
