500,000 passengers at Craiova Airport. The expansion and investments will transform it into the most modern airport in Romania
Craiova International Airport celebrated, last week, its 500,000th passenger for 2023 and opens its doors as wide as possible to the world, both in terms of the routes offered and the investments that have been made and which are currently underway.
From the expansion of the departures/arrivals terminal, to the equipment and various technical systems, all the changes that have been and will be made do not compare to the largest project currently underway: the expansion and modernization of the Craiova International Airport.
The project worth 97 million euros, impressive considering its scale and the pace with which the works are progressing, includes the creation of a new passenger terminal with a constructed area of 12,791 square meters, a new parking lot to serve the entire airport, but also road access roads, arrangement of the level surface of the runway strip, arrangement of the safety area, technological roads, an aircraft de-icing platform, a boarding-disembarkation platform, taxiways, security control equipment and systems, as well as some other endowments.
The investment is included in Romania's General Transport Master Plan, and this project includes the building, in the area, of a photovoltaic park, as well as other related investments.
