Curtea Berarilor, the German experience in the heart of Craiova

Lovers of fresh tank beer accompanied by traditional Bavarian food, have once again, since the 1st of June – because it was first open right before the lockdown – a new place created especially for them, right in the heart of Craiova. We’re talking about Curtea Berarilor (Brewers Yard), a concept brought to the public in our city for the first time.

With a fresh and airy design, in warm colours and with attention to details, Curtea Berarilor means a kind of place of worship for those who love beer, but also food with Bavarian origins, served in dishes that remind you of family meals and less of the fact that you are in a restaurant. It is a friendly place, where people laugh a lot and socialize, because this is what fresh and cold beer and good food usually do: they bring people together.

The typical Bavarian brewery music brings a lot of joy to the place, which is anyway filled with laughter and happy faces. It is the kind of place where you come to do some serious "nesting", because it is kind of hard to leave.

The menu is diverse, for everybody's taste, and starts with salads, soups, the traditional tripe soup - for heavier mornings -, to jalapeno cheese balls, Bavarian sausages, ham and meats of all kinds, marinated and cooked beautifully, until they melt in your mouth.

All the products on the menu are made in the own cuisine, which makes stuff more authentic and also gives the feeling of "at home". Even the chips - yes, the thinnest potatoes and the most crispy - are made "at home".

The attraction of the beer menu is, without a doubt, the tank beer. Coming directly from the factory, it has a short shelf life and, precisely because of this, the Timișoreana tank beer is proudly carrying the real title of fresh beer, which doesn’t give you trouble even the day after. The list of liqueurs continues with varieties of beer, cocktails, soft drinks or hot drinks. So, a menu with a lot to offer, not necessarily for the pretentious, but for the truly confident people, who really know what they want.

On the walls of the premises you can read about the process of producing tank beer, so the visit to Curtea Berarilor also means a bit of general culture, a form, we consider, of respect for the customers and for the beer that is consumed. It must be understood, felt and appreciated for what it is: one of the oldest beverages produced by man.

So walk inside Curtea Berarilor Craiova, where there is no place for sadness and anguish and where life is celebrated the way it’s supposed to be, especially now, after the harder times are beginning to fade away. As the Romanian poet Păstorel Teodoreanu used to say, it's a pity to waste ink writing sad stories and useless dramas; if that ink was beer, it could quench the thirst of people in seven breweries for seven days.
