#HistoryLesson. The Autumn Fair, premiered at Izvoranu-Geblescu Tower in Brabova

The Izvoranu-Geblescu tower in Brabova opens its doors wide, this Saturday, for the first edition of the Autumn Fair organized at the beautiful semi-fortified building, transformed into a museum!

Thus, the Oltenia Museum, through the Ethnography Section, with the support of the Dolj County Council, and in partnership with the Brabova City Hall and Local Council, the Dolj Creation Center, the "Ilie Martin" School in Brabova, the "Eufrosina Popescu" High School in Botoșești-Paia and The Grecești Secondary School is organizing, on November 9, at the Izvoranu-Geblescu Tower, the first edition of the Autumn Fair, where local history and tradition will join hands.

It's a great opportunity to get out of the house for a real lesson in beautiful traditions and community involvement! The Autumn Fair will take place between 13:00 and 19:00, offering the public the joy of remembering traditions, the smell of baked quinces or bread made in our special Oltenian oven, the „țest”. Visitors will be able to enjoy traditional products prepared and brought by children from the "Ilie Martin" School in Brabova and the "Eufrosina Popescu" Secondary School in Botoșești-Paia, and at the same time, they will be able to admire traditional art objects through a presentation of folk costumes, carpets and Oltenian barks specific to the place. Of course, the museum space of the tower will also be open to the public, who will be able to learn the history of the place and that of the people of the past.

Finally, the atmosphere will be maintained by bands of local fiddlers and the voices of students, and interactive painting workshops will also take place. Everything will end with a small carriage ride on Plenei Valley, along and across the village of Brabova.

We remind you that both Izvoranu-Geblescu Tower (Brabova) and Cernătești Tower (Cernătești) were rehabilitated through funds accessed by the Dolj County Council and were transformed into sections of the Oltenia Museum, for over a year, thus reconstructing the history, and giving it its due respect.

See you on Saturday in Brabova and, maybe, in Cernătești too! Dolj is magical!
