Traditional music and local culture, in the foreground for the second year at Cula Izvoranu-Geblescu

Returning to the roots is never a bad idea, on the contrary! On the weekend of June 19-20, at the foot of the Izvoranu-Geblescu tower, in the commune of Brabova, the Dolj County Council is organizing, for the second consecutive year, the Brabova Traditional Music Festival. Through this event, local culture, history and gastronomy, along with the indispensable music, will make the Izvoranu-Geblescu tower the ideal meeting place.
The artists who will take the stage at the festival are Constantin Lătărețu, Taraful Fane Dumitrache, Lavinia, Diana Matei & Taraful Cleante, Casual Band by Bogdan Uță, the Folk Ensemble "Maria Tănase" and the Popular School of Arts and Crafts "Cornetti". All in a traditional setting with straw bales, in the shade of trees, surrounded by crafts and games from the past.
That's right! This year, the festival comes with two new components, the Craftsmen's Village and the Childhood Village. In the first, visitors will be able to see, live, craftsmen of ceramics and the potter's wheel, shoemakers, sculpture and woodworking, folk costumes, not to mention traditional dolls or invited craftsmen from Serbia.
As for the Childhood Village, here, the little ones will have the opportunity to play old games, creative workshops, activities inspired by Romanian traditions and have unforgettable experiences. Traditional food will not be missing either, nor will local products, relaxation areas, specific decorations, in an atmosphere that will make us relive, perhaps, the years of our childhood in the village.
Everything takes place in the commune of Brabova, at the foot of Cula Izvoranu-Geblescu, on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20. Access is free, and the festival is open between 1:00 PM and 10:00 PM, on each of the two days. See you at Brabova!
About the Izvoranu-Geblescu tower

The Izvoranu-Geblescu tower is one of the semi-fortified buildings in Dolj, and along with Cula Cernăteștilor (Cernătești commune) it was restored with funds accessed by the Dolj County Council and restored to the tourist circuit. Today, the two buildings function as museum points under the jurisdiction of the Oltenia Museum and can be visited by all those who want a few relaxing hours in nature, away from the noise and hustle and bustle, to learn about our local history and customs.
