50 years of the impressive career of the director Silviu Purcărete will be celebrated, in Craiova, through a whole week of shows bearing the signature of the Romanian director. Thus, between October 7 and 13, for the first time in Romania, the theatrical world and the audience fascinated by Silviu Purcărete's creations meet in Craiova in an unprecedented celebration.
To mark 50 years of excellence of the Silviu Purcărete brand on the world stage, for one week, the Craiova National Theater will bow to the creator to whom it owes a remarkable period of international glory. The well-known institution will host five shows from the current repertoire of theaters in the country: „Povestea prințesei deocheate” („Radu Stanca” National Theater in Sibiu), „Lexiconul amar” (Odeon Theater in Bucharest), „Gertrude” („I. L. Caragiale” National Theater from Bucharest), „O tragedie veninoasă” and „Plugarul si moartea” („Vasile Alecsandri” National Theater in Iași), as well as the screenings of the film „Undeva la Palilula” and the documentary „Furtuna”, directed by Silviu Purcărete.
The "Purcărete Week" jubilee will bring before the public the man and creator Silviu Purcărete in a series of meetings with those who are and have been his collaborators, friends and sources of inspiration: artists, managers or producers and spectators. The proposed program is a vivid image of the great director's vision, an open door to his so complex universe.

Outstanding cultural personalities, in Craiova
Outstanding personalities of the Romanian cultural space such as Mariana Mihuț, Victor Rebengiuc, Valer Dellakeza, Leni Pințea Homeag, Valeriu Dogaru, Emil Boroghină, Dragoș Buhagiar, Vasile Șirli, Constantin Chiriac, Ofelia Popii, Claudiu Bleonț, Marius Manole, Marina Constantinescu, Sebastian-Vlad Popa and Octavian Saiu are among those who will be by Silviu Purcărete's side at the anniversary.
Thus, the only Romanian director who was present in the official programs of the Edinburgh and Avignon Festivals, the most important theater events anywhere, but also the first creator of the Romanian scene who was talked about throughout the world after 1989 comes again to Craiova, in a moment of reference for Romanian culture.
