The extension of Craiova International Airport, closer and closer to completion!

The expansion and modernization of Craiova International Airport, which will become the second largest in the country after Otopeni Airport in Bucharest, has exceeded 80% of the execution schedule.

The project, worth 97 million euros, impressive considering its scale and the pace with which the works are progressing, includes the construction of a new passenger terminal with a constructed area of ​​12,791 square meters, a new parking lot to serve the entire airport, but also access roads, the development of the levelled surface of the runway strip, the development of the safety area, technological roads, an aircraft de-icing platform, a boarding-disembarkation platform, taxiways, equipment and security control systems, as well as some equipment.

The investment is included in Romania's General Transport Master Plan, and through this project, a photovoltaic park is also to be built in the area, as well as other related investments.

According to the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, "the most significant evolution is registered in the building of the new terminal, where work is being done both on the outside, on the installation of the sunshades and on the terrace closures, but also on the inside, on the partitions and on all types of installations. On the ground floor, the partitioning is already 90% complete, while on the first floor work is being done at a sustained pace on the installation of the metal structures. Also, work is being done simultaneously on all the installations: electrical, thermal, sanitary, ventilation and air conditioning and firefighting. Until now, the physical progress on the terminal building is approaching 75%".

At the same time, on the outside, the operations at this moment are focused on the movement infrastructure, some objectives in the project, such as the platforms for embarkation-disembarkation, return to the runway or de-icing of ships, being almost ready.

With the completion of this project, Craiova and Doljwill receive even wider wings towards Europe and the world, with new economic and tourism opportunities for our area.
