The community, linked by art and joy at Film in Sat - Cernătești
Film in Sat, a festival in its second edition in the Dolj commune of Cernătești and financially supported by the Dolj County Council, once again demonstrated its role as a social link for three days, during the weekend that just ended.
The project that aimed to bring the arts closer to the rural world, conceived by the actor Cuzin Toma, meant, in Dolj, three days of arts brought to the world of the village, where they manage quite hard to penetrate normally. But we, in Dolj, want to make a habit out of it.
It all started on Friday, when the stadium and the Cernăteștilor tower became venues for activities dedicated to all ages. At the tower, which has become a museum point for about a year, workshops for children were held and, until late at night, it remained open for all those who came to the festival to learn its story and secrets. That's how the night caught some of us in the courtyard of this old building, unearthing stories and digging into historical sources to find out our origin and roots.
At the stadium, Taraf de Caliu, known in the past as Taraf de Haidouks, who come from Clejani, conquered the souls of those present by the warmth and joy with which they sang. It's not easy to keep such different people together, but they succeeded, just as Damian Drăghici with his band did, on the second night, with his „Meditații Lăutărești”. The films were like at home, from short films to the Romanian comedy "Completely Unknown", directed by Octavian Strunilă, or "The Dream", a very interesting film about change and rediscovery, directed by Cătălin Saizescu. At the end of the screenings, the night and the cold didn't drive those present home, DJ Vasile making sure that the world warmed up not only with blankets or thick blouses, but also by dancing.
The energy of the gathered crowd, this weekend, in Cernătești, demonstrated, once again, how strong we can be if we are together, gathered together by the same joy: that of living, listening, seeing and knowing each other closer, despite the apparent differences between us. And what better way to do that than by gathering in a space where we feel free, but with the same goal.
Whether it was children playing with a ball, people lying on blankets enjoying a book and the sun, old friends chatting over a glass of beer and a barbecue about what they've been up to, volunteers who were careful that everything was up to par, we were all together and enjoyed ourselves.
Thanks again, Film în Sat, for teaching us the same thing for the second year in a row. And we repeat ourselves: that the differences between us are infinitely smaller than the things that bring us closer!
