Lacustrine complex Preajba - Făcăi
Protected area / Natural attraction
About
The natural area is located in the central-eastern part of Dolj County, in the northern village of Preajba, in the immediate vicinity of the national road DN55, linking the county seat of the county with the Bechet port.
It was declared a protected area in 2000 and covers an area of 28 hectares. The natural area is a lacustrine complex: lakes, marshes, water courses, alluvial forests, sand dunes, arable lands, meadows and a wide variety of flora and fauna specific to wetlands.
The complex consists of five ponds, arranged in steps, with a total area of 28 hectares, permanently supplied by strong springs.
The ecological particularity of the area lies in the fact that in a relatively limited geographical area, a diversity of continental aquatic ecosystems is sprouted: springs, streams, rivers, lakes and marshes. Each of these features characteristic of biocenoses and plant and animal populations.
The flora and fauna of the reserve are specific to wetlands with fresh water, and their variety and abundance is favoured by the abundance of water.
