The Balta Neagră (Black Pond) natural reserve, is a protected area of national interest according to Law no. 5/2000 and has an area of 120 ha.
The Balta Neagra covers an area of 1.2 hectares, located on the territory of Desa. It is bordered by an acacia forest, private property to the north, a vineyard planting in the east, and private property to the west.
This pond is accessible by road in the direction of the Poiana Mare - Desa county road and then on the roads DE1110 - 1112 and DE1105.
It is a temporary pond that is completely dry during the dry summers. There are, however, several wetlands, permanent or temporary meshes, springs, marshes inside the site, whose hydrological level largely depends on the principle of infiltration of the floodplain area of the Danube River and to a lesser extent on the amount of precipitation in rainy periods.
It is a protected area of national interest that corresponds to the fourth category IUCN aquatic nature reserve situated in the Dolj County, on the administrative territory of the Desa commune; it represents a natural lustre of water and the surrounding area with the fauna specific to the wetlands of the Danube Plain.

The Balta Lata natural reserve is designated as a protected area of national interest according to Law no. 5/2000, and has an area of 28 ha.
It is located on the administrative territory of Desa and is bounded by the DE 1340 to north, DE 1339 road and a meadow to east, DE 1315 road and a Canadian poplar forest to south and DE 1335 road and some unproductive sandy land to west.
It is a permanent pond that does not totally dry up not even during the hottest summers.
It is a protected area of national interest corresponding to the IV th category of the IUCN natural reservation of the aquatic type situated in Dolj County, on the administrative territory of Ciupercenii Noi commune.
It is a protected area overlaid on the Natura 2000 Ciuperceni-Desa site and it is a natural area of water scenery and the surrounding area with meadows, sand dunes, floodplain meadows with flora and fauna characteristic of the Danube Plain.

The protected area of national interest Adunatii de Geormane Lake is located in a plain area of the Jiu river basin, which extends to the territory of Bratovoeşti and Teasc and is part of the wetland category. This protected area is characterized by the presence of lacustrine ecosystems, namely Victoria Lake and Marica Pond, adjacent to marshy areas.
Lake Victoria is located on the upper left terrace of the Jiu river at a distance of about 25 kilometres from Craiova to the south, in the Oltenia Plain on Rojistea Terrace. This lake forms an isolated biological unit linked to Jiu by a channel for extracting excess water through the Marica pond. The shape of the lake is almost oval, with low, sandy banks and few trees.

At the Bailesti area there is an acacia forest with "Sand" - Bailesti oak reserves. It covers an area of 50 ha and has been declared natural protected area of local interest by the Decision of the County Council no. 26/1994.
In the Nisipuri - Băileşti forest there are numerous secular trees, from the spontaneous flora such as the wild pear and the oak, along with the already mentioned species of acacia.

The natural area Ciuperceni-Desa is located in the floodplain area of the Danube meadow and is an ornithological reserve of approximately 200 hectares, including the Balta Lata and the Balta Neagra. Here is also located the Ciurumela Forest where huge acacias are found, whose diameters reach 70-80 cm and heights up to 35 meters. The habitats of Salix alba and Populus alba are those that contributed to the designation of the site as a site of community importance Natura 2000.
Among the birds that can be found in this site are white stork, black stork (Ciconia nigra), little aigrette (Egretta garzetta), Philomachus pugnax, red egret (Ardea purpurea), Himantopus himantopus, Plegadis falcinellus. The Ciuperceni-Desa site is unremitting and it is the only place that has remained so in the Danube's meadow.
Comuna Ciupercenii Noi, Romania
Ciurumela Forest is a forest reserve located in the municipality of Poiana Mare. It is made up of a very old acacia forest, valuable for the quality of wood and the size of the trees, unique in Europe. The forest reserve is located on the right side of the Calafat - Bechet - Cernavoda National Road, about 5 km from the Poiana Mare commune. The acacia forest forming the forest reserve has more than 90 years and covers an area of 8 hectares.
It was declared a natural protected area of local interest by the Decision of the County Council no. 26/1994.

The natural protected area Cilieni Pond- Bailesti belongs to the category of natural protected areas of national interest and corresponds to IUCN category IV, being declared by HCJ 26/1994 and then by Law no. 5/2000 regarding the approval of the National Territory Planning Plan - Section III - Protected Areas. It is not part of any Natura 2000 site.
At present, the protected area Cilieni Pond - Bailesti is in the custody of the Bailesti Town Hall, according to the custody convention no. 127 / 09.03.2010, concluded between the National Agency for Protected Natural Areas and the Local Council of Bailesti County Dolj County.
The land of the protected natural area has an area of 47 ha and falls under the public domain, according to the Government Decision 1326 / 27.12.2001, published in the Official Gazette 17 / 15.01.2002.
The natural protected area of national interest "Cilieni Pond - Bailesti" is situated in the central part of the Oltenia Plain, in the Plain of Băileşti, having the following coordinates: 44o02'20 '' lat. Nordic and 23 ° 18'00 '' long. Eastern, it extends from the entrance of the Balasan fleet to the administrative territory of Baileşti (out of town) until the airport pier.
The flora and fauna of this protected area is specific to freshwater wetlands.

Balta Cilieni, Băilești
The natural area is located in the central-eastern part of Dolj County, in the northern village of Preajba, in the immediate vicinity of the national road DN55, linking the county seat of the county with the Bechet port.
It was declared a protected area in 2000 and covers an area of 28 hectares. The natural area is a lacustrine complex: lakes, marshes, water courses, alluvial forests, sand dunes, arable lands, meadows and a wide variety of flora and fauna specific to wetlands.
The complex consists of five ponds, arranged in steps, with a total area of 28 hectares, permanently supplied by strong springs.
The ecological particularity of the area lies in the fact that in a relatively limited geographical area, a diversity of continental aquatic ecosystems is sprouted: springs, streams, rivers, lakes and marshes. Each of these features characteristic of biocenoses and plant and animal populations.
The flora and fauna of the reserve are specific to wetlands with fresh water, and their variety and abundance is favoured by the abundance of water.
Some of the species that can be seen in the Preajba-Făcăi area:
Bird Species: white egret, white stork, small egret, lichen, chestnut duck, big goose, daydream.
Mammals: hermelin, water rat, weasel, badger, hamster.
Reptiles: water snake, steppe lizard, guler, turtle, water turtle, gypsy
Flora: rush, pink larch, long leaf rush, yellow lily of the valley.
