The libraries in Dolj and the "Elena Farago" Memorial House will receive a new life
We all know how important it is to read and study from a young age, and this can only be done through a renewed infrastructure of libraries everywhere. Therefore, the end of April came with good news for the libraries in our county!
30 such institutions in Dolj will be rehabilitated or supplied with modern equipment, thanks to a project submitted by the Dolj County Council, through the National Recovery and Resilience Program.
Of this project, entitled "Library - active digital learning hub for the community of Dolj county", will benefit the "Alexandru and Aristia Aman" County Library, as well as 29 other libraries in the county. Specifically, the "Elena Farago" Memorial House in Craiova, part of the "Aman" Library, will be rehabilitated and, subsequently, the entire library will be equipped with furniture, computers and specific technical equipment.
The libraries in Ciupercenii Noi, Vela and Cernătești communes will also be renovated, equipped and modernized, and the other 26 municipal and city libraries included in the project will receive funding to purchase computers and IT equipment that will facilitate access to learning. In addition, 2,500 people from disadvantaged backgrounds will be trained in computer usage. The project is to be submitted for funding.
Philosopher Cicero said that "if we add a library to a house, we give it a soul," and we can extend the validity of this statement to the level of a community. Libraries are not only important from the point of view of the infinite culture they provide, but also through the added value they give to the society at the centre of which they are located. Thus, the library has repeatedly demonstrated its role as a civic centre - or we can call it a cultural hub - where people not only study and borrow books, but also carry out various activities, regardless of whether we are talking about children, adults or people with a respectable age.
We can't wait for the start of this project, which will surely mean a new beginning for many communities in Dolj.
