Autumn heralds the music! IntenCity and the "Elena Teodorini" International Festival: a series of cultural events in Craiova
The IntenCity Classical Edition kicks off Craiova’s autumn cultural season on September 25 and 26 at the Polyvalent Hall, featuring a dynamic fusion of contemporary musical energy and the refinement of the classical world through crossover projects and special collaborations. Immediately following this event, the "Elena Teodorini" International Festival begins - an opera and operetta showcase named after the Craiova native who was the first Romanian artist to perform at La Scala in Milan.
Residents and visitors alike can enjoy unique performances this weekend, that blend modern and classical music. The lineup includes a concert by Puya - a project merging his artistic style with classical music elements- and a performance by Irina Baianț, a leading voice of the new generation of opera singers, presenting a concept that bridges operatic vocals with contemporary sounds. Alexandra Căpitănescu will also take the IntenCity stage this year, bringing the boundless energy that made her famous, accompanied by the Romanian Opera Craiova Symphony Orchestra.

Following IntenCity, the "Elena Teodorini" International Festival kicks off, running from September 27 to November 19. This 19th edition, which also marks the centenary of the soprano's passing, pays tribute, as it does every year, to the lady of Craiova that, in 1880, at the age of 22, became the first Romanian woman to perform on the stage of the famous La Scala in Milan.
