Oltenia Day - marathon of cultural events, in Craiova

Oltenia Day, thus officially established by law in 2017, returns to the heart of Dolj, in Craiova, with events prepared to remind us of our local pride, our fighting spirit and all the beautiful things that surround us at every step in our county.

March 21 is the date on which the revolutionary Tudor Vladimirescu entered Bucharest, at the head of his army of Oltenian soldiers, during the revolution of 1821. We cannot, therefore, talk about a celebration of this day without remembering values such as unity, faith and our strength of hundreds of years, which have helped us to withstand the greatest challenges.

This year's events, organized by Craiova City Hall and the Dolj County Council, together with the city's cultural institutions, will span four days full of color, taste, novelty and tradition. We will have "Dolju-n bucate" - culinary exhibition with tasting, folkloric music performances, handcraft and traditional art exhibitions, a fair of handmade accessories, forays into our history through visits to the Oltenia Museum, concerts and performances.

Moreover, for the first time, Inspire Cinema Mercur will join these events, and with their help we will also be able to enjoy a screening of the film "How to Marry a Millionaire" (1953), with Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Monroe, directed by by Jean Negulescu from Craiova, the Romanian recognized as the real father of the CinemaScope cinematographic system.

We are waiting for you with us, to enjoy together the unique history that we have, our heritage and a gene that, as it were, was passed down to us through our lands, to every person who was born and who followed in the footsteps of our ancestors.

Happy birthday, Oltenia! Thank you for being our home, here and now!
