"Nicolae Romanescu" Park, celebrating 120 years since its inauguration
The "Nicolae Romanescu" Park, significant for Craiova, for Dolj and for the whole country, the third largest in Europe, is celebrating, during this period, 120 years since its inauguration.
The event will be marked on September 30, when we will remember, together, the glory of this remarkable project by the architect Edouard Redont, who won the Gold Medal at the Paris International Exhibition (1900), also shown to the public on this occasion .
The City Hall of Craiova proposes, therefore, a journey through time and invites Craiova residents to participate in the largest Parade of Period Costumes. So, on September 30, starting at 11:00, on the route Piața „Mihai Viteazul” - Calea Unirii – „Nicolae Romanescu” Park and will recreate the atmosphere of the 1900s, out of the desire to relive the fragrance of those times and to (re)discover history one of the most beautiful parks in Europe.
Thus, the people of Craiova are invited for a walk to the tunes of promenade music, accompanied by horse-drawn carriages and vintage cars. Wearing a suit, hat, tailcoat and period dress, let's travel back in time and discover together what it was like at the inauguration 120 years ago.
The events dedicated to the "Nicolae Romanescu" Park will take place between September 29 and October 1 and will include the premiering exhibition of the gold medal won by Rédont in Paris in 1900, as well as some original documents and sketches. Just like in 1903, painting exhibitions, a military music concert and many other surprises will take place in the park, as well as a unique invitation to the waltz.
