The Easter Fair in Craiova transformed the "Nicolae Romanescu" Park into a fairyland
The Easter Fair in Craiova, officially opened on April 1, has become an important point of attraction both for the residents of Craiova and for tourists who come to our city to admire one of the most beautiful monuments of landscape architecture in the country, the "Nicolae Romanescu" Park".
Held under the theme of "Alice in Wonderland", the Easter Fair means fun for everyone, but especially for the little ones, fascinated by the world of stories staged in an enchanting setting. Unique houses, painted and sculpted by the local artist Gabriel Rizea, chess pieces over one-meter tall, giant flowers, characters from stories, over 100,000 natural flowers, magic lights and many other surprises can be admired at the fair, held on a large part of the park whose architectural design was awarded the gold medal at the Paris International Exhibition (1900).
Craiova City Hall, the organizer of the fair, has included in the fair's program various artistic events, which take place every weekend, or interactive ones, such as ceramic, pottery, chess, painting or improvisation workshops, as well as treasure hunts. Foodies are invited to taste the goodies brought by dozens of traders from several areas of the country and enjoy unique articles and decorations, made by artisans, and adrenaline lovers can compete on a hydro bike ride on the lake or with go-karts on the velodrome in the park.
Those who want to see another perspective of Craiova should know that they also have at their disposal a double-decker bus that will run throughout the fair period, between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., every hour, on the following route: Sala Multipurpose - Church "St. Dumitru" - Agronomy - Botanical Garden (Schmidt) - Craiova City Hall (English Park) - House of Marriages (C.D. Fortunescu Street) - Romanescu Park - Polyvalent Hall. The ticket price is 3 lei and can be bought directly from the bus. We encourage you to use this mean of transportation and leave the cars at home, for a unique experience!
